Of Men and a Bipolar Nation

I get confused easily as of late. It is either that or the world has a very short attention span. Both could be correct I think. For better or worse, we are who we are and that is a nation deeply divided. We can not get past party lines and act as one, even though our core beliefs on just what this country is supposed to be are the same. That’s right, I said the same. Take away all of the petty issues of the week and we all want to live our lives with little to no government interference; or not.

So why do we forget that the last guy broke the law and was above the law? How is it that only the new guy is the “evil boogeyman”? Go back past the guy before this guy and most of, if not all the other guys were fucked up as well. We will never like the government but then again are we really suppose to? Find me a perfect president and I will sell you a bridge on the moon for real cheap. Thirty-four fifty if you act quickly!

Okay, so this guy is in charge now and he seems to think that he is a real superstar, instead of leader of the free world. Survey says. . . He thinks he can do whatever he damn well pleases and that there will be no repercussions, ever. Survey says . . . But what I can not tolerate is ignorance. It is not that I need to get over the past; it is that you need to stop trying to suppress it; embrace it; love it, no matter how ugly. They have all done things that may or may not have been a bit shady and not in our (the general public’s) interest.

We should have Spock in charge. You know someone who is logical and still has a heart. It would be a world where, “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.” Sadly, this shit would never fly in our world for we are too driven by material needs. Be careful running up that hill and make sure not to look down at the bodies you are stepping on. As long as you get to where you need to go, who cares right? It is a dog eat dog world after all right? What ever lets you sleep at night pal, what ever gets you through the day is all that matters.

They have us going after and attacking each other when we should in fact be going after them; all of them. In this make believe scenario of us versus them, we would win by shear strength of numbers. We would take back what was once almost ours and start the entire mess from scratch. We could play our favorite record again and again, hoping and praying that this time it would not skip. But it will. It always does; there is always a hiccup along the way.

This guy has an agenda. That guy has an agenda. We just bury our heads in the sand; cowardly waiting until the next guy comes along with his false promises and then the vicious cycle starts once more. Insert the prosaic, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”, here.

I don’t think it is a case of the past being forgotten as much as swept under the rug and vehemently denied – a kind of societal defense mechanism that we seek in an effort to quell the fears of the unknown that is the future. We all love to look back on the good, freshly sanitized Apple-pie delusion of our own making, but the painful, dark, and often frightening memories of yesterday – that’s another story.

Just look at the near sainthood of John F. Kennedy & family; shall we discuss the man’s oh so obvious infidelity, the fiasco that was The Bay of Pigs, or the family’s rumored connections to organized crime? When Ted Kennedy passed away, did any network or media source even mention Chappaquiddick? How about we get all nostalgic for Ronald Regan and the “High Treason” that was Iran Contra…

Why deny the crimes? Why negate the cover-ups? History is to be documented, remembered, and passed on “Accurately” to the next generation, so we – as a people “never forget”.

What good is history, what good is memory when it’s been cleaned, pressed, and newly designed so that we’re more comfortable? What is accomplished – other than falling further down the rabbit hole? How can we expect our future to be an uncompromised Wonderland when we’re unwilling to accept the dark-uglies of the past?

As for “The Boss” – I’ll close with another reference; there is no “great and powerful wizard” behind the curtain because in the end – when the illusion falls away, he’s just a man, an ordinary man, and if we’re lucky, he’s doing the best he can with what he’s got.

The key words would be, “If we’re lucky.” And unfortunately, I do not think that we are. I’ve said it so many times that at this point it is almost pointless. By the time these people get to where they are going to owe so many people/corporations so many things that they can fulfill none of the promises that they made to the general public. What is more frightening is the fact that they do not truly even care about the lies that they told. They seem to think that no one can do anything at this point and that they are above the law. Someday, someone will finally get up enough courage to start the next revolution. Whether it is with words or actions, it is inevitable, it always is.

Until then, I’ll wait, patiently, typing away in my hidden, underground bunker.

    Mr. Smith and co:
I find you both to be insightful and refreshing although I am certain that neither is your intention. Or even more….directed directly towards me. But none the less i’ve stated it with indiscriminating intentions.

A revolution I agree is much overdue….although right now I canNOT agree to be the most opportuned time….not that there is a perfect time…but if one was capable of escaping us during the previous administration’s surely more apropriate time……?then why should one be lets say “aroused” now? Although a certain denomination of conservative “approaches” surely seems to be aimed in provoking one…in my opinion arrogantly so in light of their “approaches” and historical failures with which one could point to the most recent previous attempt/administration being of most insultive and destructive in nature.

Ironically it’s safe to say that this is just another case of the opposite of what should be happening or should of happened is happening or being provoked to.

Your last sentence humored with cowardice…is funny…and optomistic…..but to this I must say in the least:

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

So did you come here merely to insult me under the guise of a pseudo compliment? How can I be insightful and refreshing and then have it turned around into not being my intention. Of course it is my intention. To be heard, to know that there are others that are just as frustrated with our government as a whole, no matter who is in power. That is my point.

Name one administration that has done us good? We can not speak ill of the dead or ex-presidents that raped and pillaged our nation and the world. Ask some people and they think that Reagan single-handedly tore down the wall and ended communism.

      To quote you:

“Your last sentence humored with cowardice is funny and optimistic”

There is your answer to your questions: Humor; sarcasm; satire. Me think you doth read into my words too much. As for faith, I have it in bushels or I would not even bother to voice my thoughts. But hey, thanks for reading at least.

PS ~ I had to fight like hell not to correct your spelling and grammar. Just saying. Who is hiding in a bunker now?

Definitively not to insult. Compliment may have seemed guised only becuz I sought to not assume that you mean to serve being insightful more so than you mean to serve simply stating your statement(s).

Thoughts enter the bunker and go at times faster than can be written or proofread to perfection.

I cannot disagree that dead or ex-presidents have not done just what you claim.
I do however try to summarize a term with an overall or general effect….and in that sense categorize Clinton…Abraham….Eisenhower….to name a few hell even Carter…as having provided in the minimum balanced leadership and or good welfare to the people….although I am certain shortcomings can be produced.
There are others on the other hand who have done vice-versa.
I do not think Anarchy is the answer but if you propose that the current 2 party system is disfunctional this I can agree with. But can I chock them both up to be 2 sides of the same coin…..No.
Reagan was an actor….an insult in my opinion and a puppet at best….but not a poor one.

So you fought like hell but did not fail to mention?
Well “i hate to say I told you so…..but…” <——are u not a fan of this catchy phrase either?
