Is It Too Late?*

Gone are the days of needing any proof
Pinholes in history like a leaking poorly made thatched roof
In to the stygian abyss we now so easily do follow
A once bitter pill has become oh so comfortable to swallow

The dark of night has now become the black of the day
Such a rigid view there is when erasing all that is grey
Lining up like domino’s not thinking of where or how they will fall
Patiently waiting for someone, anyone to rise to the call

Once upon a time there had to be chaos before there was order
Thinking for ourselves, has become some sort of mental disorder
The world I live in seems to be now the stuff of legend and lore
Closed off from nature we’ve too many deadbolts on this perpetual door

Gone are the days of needing any proof
Pinholes in history like a leaking poorly make thatched roof
In to the stygian abyss we now so easily do follow
A once bitter pill has become oh so comfortable to swallow

We’ve been hoodwinked. It seems we are only in it for ourselves, hence the over use of the word, “Capitalism”. It has all been a ruse for the rich to once again rape the not so rich and we are just supposed to shut up and take it. Sort of like an altar boy at mass and no I will not apologize for that remark. But this is not about the SEC surfing for porn instead of doing their job nor is it about the recent (or ancient) faux pas of the Catholic Church. It is much more sinister than that. The FDA wants us to be subservient slugs. I use slugs since you know, if you dump enough salt on them, they die and apparently we do as well, just not as quickly.

I understand the need to regulate certain things such as narcotics and the like but screw you and your pyramid scheme of what I should and should not eat. You can suck it, plain and simple. You say that we are a detriment to society and a burden on the health care system? Wrong. I pay for my own health care so I will ingest whatever I want to ingest. I can buy alcohol or tobacco, no problem but salt? SALT! Something the body NEEDS and the FDA wants to tell us how to ingest it? Do we really need these overpaid babysitters to tell us no all the while they’re probably doing the same exact thing that the SEC is doing: pants around their ankles and surfing for free porn on our dollar.

The FDA is just another failed government regulatory entity, just like the DEA and their so called “War on Drugs”. You got trailer trash Johnny going to jail for having a dime bag while the Mexican drug cartels do whatever they like and no one seems to be able to stop them. How does this make sense? Sorry, off topic. . .

They say we are over taxed; they say that government is too big and they would be correct but we weren’t even a hundred and fifty years in and it was already too big. Let us stop acting as this has occurred within our lifetimes. Let us not fall for their scapegoats and their blame shifting. Or just go back to sleep America and you just keep on thinking that your government has everything under control and not only that but they have our best interests in mind. If you believe that then you should eat a proverbial bullet and be done with it.

Until we are unified under a motto of, “Hey Big Government, we control you, you do not control us” then we are going to be forever diversified and diversity no matter what they shove down our throats, is rarely a good thing. I would however like to add one last thing: Until you learn how to spell, no one and I mean NO ONE is going to take you seriously.

Here ends the lesson.

“I’m the one who steps from the shadows, all trenchcoat and cigarette and arrogance, ready to deal with the madness. Oh, I’ve got it all sewn up. I can save you. If it takes the last drop of your blood, I’ll drive your demons away. I’ll kick them in the bollocks and spit on them when they’re down and then I’ll be gone back into darkness, leaving only a nod and a wink and a wisecrack. I walk my path alone… who would walk with me? “ ~ J. Constantine

It is after all only the internet so turn it off if you don’t like what you read here. Or if you really want to prove your point leave a comment instead of lurking behind your IP address. I mean if you read a newspaper and get pissed off don’t you fire off a letter to the editor? Well probably not since most people have Jell-O for a spine nowadays. But in a perfect world one would think that you would do just that. Or write a letter to your Congressman or Senator when they do not vote with their constituents in mind. Your lives are just too busy for that I suppose. Which in turn I guess it could be said that maybe I have too much time on my side since I write so much. For this I can only say, bite me!

I guess my gears are ground up this week due to the ever growing vox populi that literally does not know what they are talking about. This growing faction of our society that seem to think if they yell loud enough and stomp their feet in perfect unison that someone will wave their magic wand and voila, their strong opinions and should of, could of, would of will suddenly become FACT. You do not have enough money for a vowel but here is a free clue: That’s not how shit works people.

Disconnected by Over Connecting

The planet is running out of oxygen. I know that this may come as a shock to the masses but it is true and it has been known since the mid to late 70’s. Of course now you are thinking that this has to do with global warming or “climate change” depending on whom you wish to offend but alas it has nothing to do with that particular cult of personality. It has to do with . . . wait for it . . . idiocy. Hey what can I say, our society gives me so much material that I do not really need to make shit up and this definitely is not fiction.

How else do you explain all of our bizarre behaviors? To me it is the only logical conclusion that due to the change in the amount of oxygen in our atmosphere it is somehow slowly killing our brains. While I would much rather it be zombies eating them it is nothing so gory or graphic; it is just boring old air.

Just Let It Go

How many times have you been told that? Okay maybe not in those exact words but you catch my drift right? We could throw out the old “we can agree to disagree” but meanwhile, back at the ranch there is still a huge Elephant in the center of the room. I do not want to fix the world, nor do I wish to change it, I merely want people to think in general. Have we become so polarized that we can not see anything at all, even if it is right in front of our very noses?

We all want to be heard; we all want our thoughts and beliefs to be respected. I can not force anyone to think like me nor can they do the same to me. It is one of the most precious gifts in our lives, that of having our brains. Somehow though after millions of years (give or take 6,000 years), we still do not know how to use them properly. This is not implying that I do and that you don’t, it is just a statement.

It’s At Your Front Door, What Are You Going To Do Now?

*Only 28% of High School students are familiar with the Constitution*

I need this; I want that, get it and get it now. These words are not the words of a child, though you would think that at first glance. No, these are words spoken by grown men and women; some my age, some much older but adults nonetheless. Of course this then gets deflected unto me due to my snarky response and of course for calling them on their rudeness. I would even accept a, “Can I” even though it should be “May I”. I would, like I said, accept this over the previous statement or should I say demands.

I grow weary of this life. I do not say this in a suicidal way but in a disheartened one. I fear and pity the future. For a while I wore those rose colored glasses and thought we were doing better, only to realize that I wasn’t truly paying attention. We all make that mistake and some live their entire live under that rosy dome. Read more…

*Jaded and Apathetic

The population is asleep; jaded and apathetic
Why are there now so few, which see things are far from copasetic?
At what point did we turn into cowards; why have we become so pathetic?
If it were just a dream within a dream I’d wish for it all to be just a bit more poetic

What is this that we’ve become?
It has left us cynical and ever so numb
Walking the streets knowing no one but fear
Gone are the days when we were actually able to hear

Blame everything but ourselves when society fails
One bad screw, then it seems only idiocy prevails
Compiled in a book called Humanities Folly and other cautionary tales
Always killing the albatross or running in circles, chasing imaginary white whales

My mind never shuts off, though at times I pray that it would sleep
The surgeon has his scalpel but the incision is does not cut too deep
Please remove my tear ducts, for this world I no longer can weep
Wake me from this nightmare or else in, more madness will surely creep

Poorly programmed machines, left to our shallow addictions
This ride is not for everyone; didn’t you notice the mental restrictions?
Saying this but doing that but in the end we’re all just walking contradictions
Condescending smiles abound while you claim to be a man of such strong convictions

Bonfires illuminate the nighttime sky, as we burn our history
Erasing what they do not like; never pondering life’s great mystery
Build a wall and seal the cracks; no truth shall be had
We are children, frightened to death; sitting in a corner going ever so slightly mad

The Word Police, They Live Inside of My Head . . .

March 8th, 2010 BPSmith 4 comments

I would like to meet the word police. In a technologically advanced society like ours, you would think that there would be such a monster; not only to track people down but also to help those in need. You know, those friends and relatives that are grammatically challenged and feel the need to fit in so they make words up? Or they will take two or three other words, truncate them and carve them up only to paste them back together again into a word that doesn’t make any sense.

Example: Reverse Discrimination.

Insanity seems to be a point of contention with me as of late. Whether it is someone pointing it out to me or me pointing out to them the fact that they are doing the some task over and over, somehow expecting a different result, you know: the very definition of insanity. Hey, look, I started and ended the sentence with “insanity”! It is almost as if crazy is now juxtaposed with a relative “normal”. Ebony and ivory, side by side on my . . . well look here, I gave you the definition of the word so therefore, it stands to reason that you do not need to look it up.

Seriously though, it seems as if crazy is the new normal in our reality. Normal of course has always been “relative” to society’s social norms but you get my meaning (I hope.). Far left and right of anything, seems to be the people in the know. Now just what it is that they actually know escapes me. But trust me, ask any of them and they do in fact know something; though usually they are wrong.

Belated Expectations ~ To Dr. Seuss and Salvadore Dali

February 24th, 2010 BPSmith 2 comments

Twilights last gleaming but the blood on the ground is still steaming
In a country that never truly existed but lie and half truths persisted
Mediocrity’s smile is beaming, taking place in a nightmare instead of happily dreaming
Few, we oh so few resisted but then defiled with title of being sick, warped and twisted

If you could walk a mile with out knowing where it was you were headed
Lacking a sense of direction you would wind up somewhere that most dreaded
No sign post up ahead to point you out of the comatose affair
But how are you to know when in fact you never gave time to even pretend to care

Sunrise, sunset on this note you will regret to forget
The diversion of conversion is almost past the point of subversion
Upset playing Russian roulette while I’ll take my chances smoking this last cigarette
An ending excursion going from the King James Version to that of complete reversion
